Named for the stagecoach line, which was located 4 mi from the town of Custer, Four Mile Old West Town is an interactive, living history museum that invites patrons to touch their exhibits and features historic buildings, artifacts and more. Self-guided walking tours of the town are offered as well as group riding tours. The town is open from May to October, but tours can also be arranged in the off-season by appointment only. Displaying a variety of woodcarvings for the public to enjoy, the National Museum of Woodcarving features a carving studio, where visitors can watch as artists chisel and carve pieces of wood into works of art.
